In the Bible, we consistently see that obeying God is like a pleasing fragrance to Him. Doing things by His pattern and ways keeps us in a good relationship with Him. The message of Christ is also described as a fragrance, and when we accept Christ, His fragrance as we grow begins to emanate from us, pleasing God.

2 Corinthians 2:14-16 NET [14] But thanks be to God who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and who makes known through us the fragrance that consists of the knowledge of him in every place. [15] For we are a sweet aroma (fragrance NLT) of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing – [16] to the latter an odor from death to death, but to the former a fragrance from life to life. And who is adequate for these things?

There is a fragrance that contains the knowledge of Christ, and through us, His people, He would have that fragrance made known to those around us. It will produce one of two things: belief, love, and obedience to Christ, or unbelief, hate, and rebellion against Him. To the former, life; to the latter, death. It produces death because the Gospel of Christ confronts sin in man's heart and life and to those who reject the gift of repentance and the freedom from slavery unto sin, it brings condemnation of the eternal consequences.

A fragrance is something emitted. It’s not necessarily by means of speech. Someone wearing a fragrant perfume doesn’t need to announce they are wearing perfume; it can be smelt without a word. This is what the Gospel of Christ becomes within us. Without a word, He is emitted through the life we live that bears witness of Him, and to the spirit within man around us, it will be a life-giving aroma or a repellent.

You will come to know of the Suffering Servant, who, while we were yet still sinners, gave His life as a pure offering to take away the eternal punishment that awaited us and still awaits those who do not call on His name. You will discover what it means to become a brand-new creation in Christ Jesus and the cost and blessing that awaits you in that walk. In addition to this beautiful truth, one thing that is often not revealed to us when we receive Jesus is that if we remain in Him, we also are purposed to become His Bride. We will discover what that means and how to submit to that process. Our prayer for each of us is that through learning these different facets of who Christ is, our love and devotion for Him would increase.
